Beer Fact: IPA or Indian Pale Ale is the hoppy beer style of the popular Pale Ale. It was a beer created to supply the British Empire in the east with something to enjoy whilst on their travels. India was too hot to brew so they needed something that would last the long and rough 6 months at sea. Hoppier ales travel better and preserve their aromas and flavours and so the IPA was born.

The modern craft beer boom has created the now notorious APA, a traditional India Pale Ale with a twist. Using more citric and aromatic american hops, American Pale Ales are often stronger in flavour and in ABV.
